Jacob Kolker –Doctor of Education, professor of the Department of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication at Ryazan State University named for S.Yesenin. Honorary Educator of The Higher Vocational Education (in Russian Federation), is awarded by Konstantin Ushinsky medal. Jacob Kolker is Professor Emeritus of Ryazan State University and of Changchun University (Changchun, China), a member of the Russian Writers Union (translation), the author and co-author of more than 90 publications (monographs, articles, manuals) in foreign language teaching methodology, global education, translation theory and practice. He is the research supervisor of the postgraduate study program in theory and practice of teaching and educating (foreign languages).
Jacob Kolker is well-known by his translations of Shakespeare’s sonnets (154), the religious poetry of John Donne, poetry of E.A.Poe and other British and American poets into Russian, selections of ancient Chinese poetry into Russian, as well as his translations of Russian poets (Lermontov, Tiutchev, Fet, Polonsky, Yesenin, Zabolotsky, Tarkovsky, Mandelshtam, Shalamov, Simonov, etc.) into English.
